honey bee's

25th July

When honey bee's swarm you know about it. I had a callout for a scattered swarm in Noctorum, Wirral. It had hit a row of terraces and bee's where in and out of all the air bricks along the row. Some bee's where coming out in peoples toilets and bedrooms. The bee's in the photo where out of someones bathroom. When a swarm is scattered like this you hope that the queen decides to move on without wishing to take up permanent residence!!

Wasp nests are getting bigger and more aggressive as the season progresses. If you leave them until October you can have as many as 5000 angry wasps in your house.

Tree bee's using a bird box as a nesting site. Tree bee's are pretty harmless unless you stand on one. We try to avoid treating them unless a customer has a real concern. They are not protected like honey bee's.

bats
7/16/2013 9:06:41 PM
A good friend of mine has had her house invaded by bats. They have entered the lounge via the chimney. Bats are protected by law. It is illegal to remove bats from their colonies or even handle them without license. It is different however when they enter the living spaces of the house. Lizi did the correct thing by calling in a bat rescue service. The guy removed a few of the baby bats that had become trapped in the house with the plan to bring them back in a few weeks when they are able to rejoin the colony.

We've become partners with the Big Local Magazine. The first issue goes to print now and will be delivered at the start of August. Exciting and very busy times!
